Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), met with several Christian clerics on Thursday under the auspices of the Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria and declared his goal to bring prosperity to the nation.
At the meeting with the clergy, Tinubu revealed that Kashim Shettima, a former governor of Borno State, was not a danger to the Christian community.
He added that only competence can address the political and socioeconomic problems plaguing the country, and that his decision was not influenced by religious reasons.

According to the former governor of Lagos State, his record, plans, and agenda for developing Nigeria should be taken into consideration. He claimed to have always been a friend of the Christian community.
“What direction will Nigeria take? How can hunger be eradicated? How can we reduce violence, stop people from killing one another, and stop the death of innocent people? We must bring that to work rather than our religion.
My goal is clear; religion is not it. Since I have greater credentials, a proven track record, exposure, and vision than any of my peers, my goal is to build and flourish this nation.

“I looked at the people on the list, their backgrounds, and everything when the shortlisted names arrived, and here is someone (Kassim Shetimma) who is so intelligent, so committed, and who, throughout the Borno crisis, protected Christians,” he remarked.
The bishops clarified that they had not pledged to support the APC candidate, saying that they had not made such commitment at the conference.
