According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), it has contacted the police on the purported arrest and detention of the late musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as MohBad, since September 28, 2023.

The clarification, according to NDLEA, was made in response to media inquiries over the Lagos State Police Command’s assertion that it had not yet received a response from the agency during a press conference on Friday, October 6, 2023.

The clarification was included in a statement released on Saturday by Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA Headquarters’ Director of Media and Advocacy.

Recall that allegations surfaced on social media that MohBad was detained and arrested by NDLEA in February and given a drug to ingest while under the agency’s care.

However, Babafemi adamantly asserted in the statement that MohBad was never imprisoned in the care of the NDLEA on the said day or on any date before or after.

“Following media inquiries regarding the claim made by the Lagos State Police Command at a press conference on October 6, 2023, that it had not yet received a response from the NDLEA regarding claims made on social media regarding the alleged arrest and detention of the late musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka MohBad, the Agency would like to state that in fact its response had been sent and had been received by the police since September 28, 2023.

In fact, to demonstrate how seriously the Agency handled the situation, our written response, dated Thursday, September 28, 2023, was flown to Lagos, delivered, and accepted by the police on the same day. For the benefit of the general public who may have questions, the synopsis of our response is provided below:

The unfounded claim that Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, alias MohBad, was detained and arrested by NDLEA on February 24, 2022, and given a chemical to consume was also something we read about on social media. In response to this claim, we would want to emphatically deny that MohBad was ever detained in the care of the NDLEA on the alleged day or any date before or after. Given the aforementioned, it is unnecessary to consider providing him any type of drink, he remarked.
