Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has announced that the death toll from Wednesday’s bombing has grown from 27 to 40.
The bombing occurred at Rukubi, a community on the boundary of Nasarawa and Benue states.

Governor Sule told reporters on Thursday, “We now have roughly 40 persons who have been killed.”
He indicated that the rumor earlier was that the bombing was carried out by the airforce, but that there was no airforce plane flying above the region.
The governor said that the bomb was dropped by a drone flying above the neighborhood.

According to the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, the explosion was triggered by a military plane.
Lawal Dano of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria claimed on Wednesday that only the military has jets to carry out aerial strikes and urged the government to conduct a thorough investigation into the occurrence.
