Brig. Gen. Dogara Ahmed, the director general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has noted that the program is being impacted by a number of issues, including incorrect data submission, inadequate facilities, relocation racketeering by corps members, and low-quality graduates.
At the Edo State University’s 5th convocation address on Friday, the NYSC DG stated as much while giving a lecture titled “Harnessing the Potential of the Nigerian Youths for National Unity and Development.”

He clarified that the service recruited 350,000 corps members on average every year to support development and national unity.
The DG stated that although the program has achieved a great deal, there are still certain difficulties. The representative of the scheme was NYSC Director, South South Zone, Ladan Baba.
He lists “poor infrastructure, inadequate orientation camp facilities, incorrect graduate data submission, low-quality graduates being presented for mobilization and deployment as well as corps members relocation racketeering among others” as some of the difficulties.

He commanded the state governments to fulfill their legal obligations under the plan, including providing, maintaining, and modernizing camp facilities inside their borders.
He said that by placing corps members in elementary, secondary, and university settings, the NYSC had advanced education.
He continued by saying that they made up the majority of the labor force, particularly in rural areas.

He claims that the health sector, agriculture, NYSC projects, general elections, the national census, skill development, and entrepreneurship advancements are among the areas in which corp members are active.
He clarified that the program was designed as a purposeful public policy to guarantee the execution of the government’s Reconciliation, Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation (RRR) post-war strategy.
