A special intelligence team has been sent by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, or NSCDC, to keep an eye on and prevent the unauthorized movement and stockpiling of food supplies in Katsina State.
This was disclosed in Katsina on Monday by Jamilu Indabawa, the state’s NSCDC Commandant.
He made this statement while meeting with Mr. Jabiru Tsauri, the chairman of the committee that the state government had established to keep an eye on grain prices and movements within the state.
Governor Dikko Radda established a 27-person joint task force, which was officially established on February 21 to keep an eye on food commodity prices and illicit movement within the state.
“We have already directed reliable information from various special teams that have been deployed regarding the movement and hoarding of food commodities.
“Our staff members at the border and local government districts have already taken immediate action.
“I pledge to provide all essential assistance, collaboration, and prompt intelligence to reveal these illicit activities,” he declared.
The commandant of the NSCDC praised the state government for taking the initiative to put an end to food hoarding in the state.
