It has been reported that Mr. Bemgba Iortyom, the Publicity Secretary of the Benue State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been taken into custody by the Department of State Services, DSS, in Makurdi.

According to information acquired by furucinovel, Iortyom was taken into custody on Monday when he went to the state security agency to keep his appointment.

According to sources with knowledge of the situation, the party spokesman must have been detained as a result of a petition that was submitted against him by the All Progressives Congress, which is the party that is currently in power.

Mr. Cornelius Hwande, the media consultant for the Benue PDP, accompanied Mr. Iortyom to the DSS office and confirmed that the arrest had taken place. He stated that “as soon as we arrived, at about 2:11 pm, two gentlemen walked up to us, claiming to be from the office of the Director and took Bemgba Iortyom away.”
