According to Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, it would be challenging for the Nigerian government to set the new, proposed minimum salary at N100,000.
Onanuga revealed this on Monday during a furucinovel-watched interview with Arise Television.

He claimed that if N100,000 or more was eventually accepted as the new minimum wage in the nation, the federal and state governments would not be able to pay the salaries of their staff due to the existing financial situation of the nation.
Onanuga supported his claim by pointing out that the majority of state governors were now having difficulty making ends meet in order to pay the minimum wage.
“Let me tell you, 26 state governments could not pay it; out of 36, only 10 are paying. The last time it was done was under President Buhari, when the wage was increased to N30,000 per month.”

“The others may not have paid the full amount or they may have simply made minor improvements. However, most of the people who have kept an eye on it claim that the 26 state governments are unable to follow through.
“Will the Federal Government be able to pay for whatever the government wants to do now, even if we raise wages to 100,000 naira?”
Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
