Sir Tersoo Kula, who serves as the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, has stated that rumors circulating about an alleged rift between Governor Hyacinth Alia and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, are the product of people with questionable interests, most notably the opposition in the state.
This information was provided by Kula in a statement that was distributed to the media on Monday in Makurdi.

It was reported that Joseph Goebbels once remarked that “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will ultimately come to believe it.” According to him, “Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have bothered to answer to this, but Joseph Goebbels once said that “If you tell a lie big enough and keep saying it, people will eventually come to believe it.”
He stated, “Yesterday, Sunday, October 8th, 2023, another group came up with a Press Conference in Makurdi where they tried to give credence to some unfounded rumors by linking Governor Alia and the Government of Benue State as complaining of the SGF’s alleged meddlesomeness in the running of government in the State.” He said, “Yesterday, Sunday, October 8th, 2023, another group came up with a Press Conference in Makurdi.”
He made the observation that the reason this statement was published to clear the air and set the record straight was because of the unfounded rumors and insinuations that were circulating.

In addition, Kula stated, “There is no animosity between Governor Hyacinth Alia and the SGF.” The Governor has stated on multiple occasions, the most recent of which was during a victory parade that was organized for him by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, that the SGF will continue to serve as the leader of the party in the State and that there is no issue between them, contrary to what is being speculated by individuals who do not have the best interests of the State at heart.
“Jealous elements, particularly the opposition, who are waiting to see a fight between us should be ashamed of themselves,” the statement said. Sen. George Akume, my team’s leader, and I are collaborating closely on this project.
He described the Secretary to the Government of the Federation as a respected leader of the party not just in the state, but throughout the North Central region, and he added that he would no longer continue to keep quiet as some opportunistic elements desperately sought to pit them against each other for their inordinate monetary gain. “The opposition elements trying to foist a crack among the party’s leaders in the State by sponsoring malicious and vexatious press conferences should desist forthwith,” Kula added. “The relationship between the Governor and the SGF goes a long way back, and it will continue to grow stronger.”
