The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Wednesday announced the selection of Aminu Maida as its new Executive Vice Chairman. In the wake of this announcement, the furucinovel has provided a profile of Aminu Maida, who would serve as the Commission’s chief executive.
Maida took over for Prof. Umar Danbatta, who had been the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission since 2015.

THE PROFILE
Maida was born in 1979 in Katsina State to the late Mallam Wada Maida, who worked as the Chief Press Secretary for former President Muhammadu Buhari when he was in office. Maida was named after his father.
Maida, the new head of the NCC, has a Master of Engineering degree in Information Systems Engineering from Imperial College London as well as a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom.

Maida served as the Executive Director of technology operations at Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS) before to being appointed to his current position.
He is a seasoned technical professional with over 15 years of multi-functional and international experience in FinTech, Telecoms, and Enterprise Technology. His areas of expertise include enterprise technology, telecommunications, and information technology.
Aminu served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the Nigerian-based FinTech company Arca Payments Network and Senior Manager at Cisco Systems UK before to his employment at NIBSS.
