On Monday, the Federal Ministry of Works declared that from Wednesday at noon to Thursday at noon, vehicles will not be allowed on either of the Third Mainland Bridge’s two carriageways in Lagos State.
In a statement provided to reporters, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, made this claim.

Kesha clarified that the complete shutdown was a continuation of the bridge’s ongoing renovation efforts.
Consequently, during this crucial twenty-four-hour period, the bridge would not be accessible to traffic.
Therefore, during this time, it is urged that all drivers take alternate routes. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences caused,” the message said.

In order to ensure smooth traffic flows during this time, drivers are urged to cooperate with the traffic management officers stationed at the scene.
The Lagos State Government has also issued a notice of the bridge’s scheduled complete shutdown in the interim.
