On the occasion of His Eminence Baba Aladura Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun’s 85th birthday, President Bola Tinubu extended his warmest birthday wishes to him. Baba Aladura Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun served as the Second Republic Secretary to the Lagos State Government.
In a statement that was released on Saturday by the President’s spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the President expressed his appreciation to God for bestowing His mercies and grace onto the elder statesman, politician, former banker, unionist, lawyer, priest, and Asiwaju of Igbogbo in the Ikorodu Division of Lagos State. The statement was issued by the President.

The statement said, “His unwavering devotion to the progressive causes, dating back to his youthful days as a member of the First Republic Action Group, has encouraged many to renew their interest in the evergreen Awoist slogan of “Freedom for All and Life More Abundant,” the President said. The statement read, “His unwavering commitment to the progressive causes, dating back to his youthful days as a member of the First Republic Action Group.”
As a significant member of the administration that was led by the late Alhaji Lateef Jakande, Baba Aladura was remembered by President Tinubu for his arduous effort, devotion to duty, dedication, dexterity, experience in leadership, and drive for excellence.
Tinubu praised Basorun for being able to successfully juggle the heavy responsibilities of political involvement with community participation and church activities at the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Oke Ayo Igbala Irapada, Iganmu, Lagos, where he serves as the General Superintendent without making any concessions. Tinubu’s praise was in response to Basorun’s inability to compromise.
