The monarchs, who were accompanied by Eze Charles Onuoha, the Chairman of the Uturu Council of Traditional Leaders at the time of the visit, denounced the criminal activity that goes on in and around Uturu and the towns that are close by.

The traditional leaders bemoaned the fact that Uturu was once known for its tranquility before criminal elements started their evil deeds in the various villages of Uturu, including kidnappings, rape, farm destruction, and armed robbery, which they claimed had an impact on the socio-economic development of their regions.

The vice chancellor of Abia State University, Professor Maxwell Onyemachi Ogbulu, was congratulated by the royal fathers for his persistent security measures to protect the university’s guardians, faculty, and students in Uturu.

The Uturu-Okigwe, Uturu-Ihube, and Uturu-Isuikwuato roads, which enter and exit the institution, were among the hotspots for kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activity in the previous two years, according to furucinovel.

In 2021 and 2022, women and youth in Uturu, respectively, organized nonviolent demonstrations against the reported kidnappings, rapes, armed robberies, and invasions of their farms by criminal forces.
