Edward Ashiedu Brown, also known as Eddy Remedy, is a seasoned vocalist and former member of The Remedies. He has stated that his father was one of the writers of the Nigerian national song.
He claimed that although his father, former police officer Ashiedu Brown, was a member of the Nigeria Police Band that wrote the national song, all the credit went to the band’s director, Benedict Elise Odiase.

The seasoned vocalist mentioned that, as of now, his father has not received any recognition for his work on the national song.
According to Eddy Remedy, his father’s depressing experience led him to oppose his son’s musical endeavors on the grounds that he thought Nigeria would never reward him.
Eddy Remedy recently stated in an interview with Daddy Freeze, “I now know why my dad didn’t want me to pursue a career in music. since they treated him in the same manner. Among those who wrote the national anthem was my dad. What did he get, though? Did they recognize him in any way? He regretted that [Benedict] Odiase, the commissioner of police at the time, received all the glory instead of him.
