South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) reports that since joining Russia’s war effort in Ukraine earlier this month, at least 100 North Korean soldiers had fallen in action.
After the NIS briefed South Korean MP Lee Sung-kwon in parliament, he disclosed the casualty data. In addition to the high-ranking officials, another 1,000 North Korean soldiers were wounded, he said.

There have been a lot of losses since the North Korean soldiers don’t know what to do in a combat situation and don’t have any expertise with drone warfare or the battlefield environment in general.
It is thought that casualties occurred in the Kursk region of Russia, where Ukrainian forces have been defending territory that was invaded unexpectedly in August. Still, it’s unlikely that they were sent to Ukraine on a direct mission.
