Tinubu urged by APC chieftain to investigate the ongoing national grid meltdown

President Bola Tinubu has been urged by Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, an APC chieftain in Osun State, to probe the cause of the national grid’s persistent outages.

A former lawmaker named Oyintiloye expressed growing concern over the grid’s constant failure in an interview with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday.

He claims that Wednesday, December 11, 2024’s grid meltdown was the twelfth such episode since January.

Businesses in the country are suffering, according to Oyintiloye, who highlighted the significance of electricity to the economy, due to the grid’s regular failures.

To bring sanity back to the power sector, he said Tinubu has to immediately determine the cause of the grid’s regular collapses.

Additionally, Oyintiloye stated that the grid’s collapse 12 times in a year indicates that something is amiss.

“I am confident that the inquiry into this matter by the president will reveal the nature of the problem and the potential long-term solutions,” he stated.

“If the country has all the resources necessary to keep the grid running, then why does it collapse so frequently?”

For the benefit of our economy, the electricity industry must return to normality and the shame must end. “Through investigation, we will uncover any acts of sabotage,” he promised.

Those responsible for undermining the government’s attempts to guarantee a steady power supply would be held accountable, according to Oyintiloye, who stated this at the conclusion of the probe.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, making a greater effort to ensure that individuals tasked with grid maintenance were fulfilling their obligations.

Because Nigerians were already shelling out so much money for power, Oyintiloye argued that they should be able to reap the benefits.
