Abdullahi Abbas, chairman of the All Progressives Congress, has been ordered investigated, arrested, and prosecuted by a Federal High Court in Kano.
In a suit brought by Mahmoud Lamido, the party stalwart is accused of threatening life, disrupting peace, and making hate statements.

The Kano native told the court, through his counsel Bashir Yusuf Muhammad, that Abbas threatened to kill him in a phone call (sai na batar da kai).
According to the Certified True Copy obtained by kuryaloaded, Justice S. A. Amobeda delayed the case till February 16th to oversee compliance.
The ruling has been praised as a “milestone success” for democracy by Kano’s New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.

Sanusi Bature, campaign spokesperson, stated that Abbas has been the center of public debate owing to his statements that could jeopardize peace.
It was the second time a judge ordered the Commissioner of Police to arrest and charge the APC leader for alleged assault, intimidation, and threat, according to Bature.
“We hope this will serve as a lesson to any politician who chooses violence over peace in Kano and Nigeria,” he said.
