A judge has ordered that all streaming services remove Adele’s song

A Brazilian court has mandated the worldwide removal of a song by British artist Adele from radio and streaming platforms due to copyright infringement.

Following allegations by Brazilian composer Toninho Geraes that Adele plagiarized songs from his 1995 album, judge Vitctor Torres handed down the verdict.

Toninho Geraes lodged a claim that the 2015 Adele single “Million Years Ago” plagiarized his 1996 hit “Mulheres” performed by Brazilian artist Martinho da Vila.

Geraes is seeking a songwriting credit on Adele’s song, $160,000 in moral damages, and lost income in her lawsuit.

With a fine of $8,000 “per act of non compliance,” the court also warned Sony and Universal’s Brazilian businesses.
