The governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has admitted that there are saboteurs working for the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
Bello claimed that the saboteurs are to blame for the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ protracted strike, calling them “Judas” (ASUU).
This was said by the Kogi captain in an interview with Arise News TV on Wednesday.
Since February 14, ASUU has been on strike because the federal government has not complied with its demands over funding for universities and the pay and benefits of teachers.
ASUU and the Federal Government held several talks that resulted in no progress, and Bello expressed worry about “the future that is being toyed with for our children.”
Inciting the walkout, according to the governor, were the “saboteurs within this administration,” who will soon be identified.
“I am quite concerned about the future of our children, which is being played with. In Kogi State, where I addressed the subject of education strikes, strikes don’t exist. Sadly, this is a tactic used by saboteurs both inside and outside of this administration. I’d like to caution the NANS to refrain from making laws, the governor stated.
“Everyone, including Bola Tinubu and the president, is really concerned. What should have been done was to remove the political components from ASUU. At the proper time, we will identify the culprits and let you know who they are.
“There are things we need to work on, but there are saboteurs in any system. In this APC administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari, there are many Judas, from the inner caucus to the outside.
“However, this is not to argue that this government doesn’t have room for improvement. But the fact is that there are saboteurs. Still, in the midst of all of that, the country is moving on. The president continues to improve our infrastructure,” he stated.
