Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, responded to Ngozi Mary, a member of the staff at the Eko Hotel in Lagos, returning $70,000 that had been misplaced by one of the hotel’s patrons.
Mary, in Obi’s opinion, merits a national honor and recognition.
In a message posted on his verified Twitter account on Saturday, the former governor of Anambra State said that Mary’s decision to return the money to its rightful owner in the face of adversity and widespread moral degeneration was uplifting and comforting.
Instead of honoring those who have had a negative impact on the country, according to Obi, it is her preferences that merit a national prize.
“It is heartwarming and comforting that despite the hardship in the nation and the pervasive moral decadence in society, a staff member of Eko Hotel and Suites, Kekwaaru Ngozi Mary, was reported to have returned a lost sum of $70,000 to a customer of the hotel in Lagos,” he said.
When will Nigeria begin to recognize individuals like Miss Ngozi Mary for her honesty and integrity, Teacher Akeem Badru for receiving the 2023 Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Award, and several more like them?
“Instead of honoring those who have had a negative impact on our country, these are the people who deserve national honors, accolades, and recognition. These are the persons who will be honored in the New Nigeria that we envision. Nigeria 2.0 is conceivable.
