Reports claiming that the Niger-Benin oil pipeline attack on December 13, 2024, in Gaya, Dosso Region of the Niger Republic, was carried out by the Lakurawa terrorist group with the alleged assistance of foreign security forces, including Nigerian personnel, have been denied by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

On Saturday, acting foreign ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa issued a statement in which the Nigerian government conveyed its condolences to the Niger government over the tragic event and made it clear that the Nigerian government did not support the attackers.

The administration has made it clear that it would not tolerate acts of terrorism and has pledged to continue its fight against it.

Furthermore, the assertions that the French military is stationed in northern Nigeria with the intention of destabilizing the Niger government were disputed by the Federal Government.

As stated in the statement, France and Nigeria have maintained amicable relations throughout the years, marked by mutual regard and a refusal to meddle in one another’s domestic matters.
