Legendary AC Milan player Paolo Maldini has left Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo off his list of the top three players he has ever watched play the game.
As his top three footballers, Maldini listed former Real Madrid striker Ronaldo Nazario, late Napoli star Diego Maradona, and Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain.
The former defender made the comment in the upcoming film “The Phenomenon,” which is about Brazilian Ronaldo.
During Ronaldo’s five-year tenure with Inter Milan, the five-time UEFA Champions League champion, who also spent a year and a half playing alongside him at Milan, faced off against him numerous times.
During a wonderful career that lasted almost 25 years, the 54-year-old played for one of the greatest teams of all time and competed against some great footballers.
Maldini responded, “The three finest players I saw during my career were Messi, Maradona, and him [Ronaldo Nazario],” when asked to list the top three players he had ever seen.
