A resounding 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace has maintained Premier League title contenders Arsenal within striking reach.

At Selhurst Park, Gabriel Jesus continued his impressive form from earlier in the week, when he scored a hat trick in a 3-2 Carabao Cup victory over the Eagles. He then scored a brace either side of an Ismaila Sarr goal. Just before halftime, Arsenal’s third goal was scored by the lightning-fast Kai Havertz.

In the second half, Mikel Arteta’s team added to the score thanks to goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Martinelli.

With 33 points, Arsenal are now in third place in the league, one point behind Chelsea and three points behind Liverpool.
